About this recipe
Sometimes my dinner is delicious but just not filling enough. Or I just want to stuff my face. That’s the time to have a version of dessert inspired by French people. The cheese plate.
The best part is that it is super versatile because you can just eat it with any cheese, fruit and nuts you have at home. After a few tries you’ll figure out the perfect combinations for you!
Cheese Plate
Ingredients
- 1 piece/slice fruit of choice for example a Nêspera (a type of pear in Portugal)
- 1 piece/slice fruit of choice for example a slice of papaya
- 2 pieces/slices cheese of your choice for example Emmental
- 2-3 pieces/slices cheese of your choice for example Cheddar
- 50 g nuts or nut mix of your choice (I like roasted and salted nuts) for example peanuts and walnuts
Instructions
- Assemble all the ingredients on a plate and enjoy!
Variations
Vegan
You can either leave out the cheeses or replace them with vegan versions.
Fruit
Some fruits taste better than others combined with cheese and nuts. Bananas, alas, are not a great combination. But any fruit that is juicy is great! It does not have to be anything fancy either! Apple slices go very well with cheese and nuts!
Nuts
If you are allergic or dislike nuts just leave them out. I mix my own nuts. The walnuts and almonds are natural but the peanuts are always roasted and salted. That way I get the best flavour for me. Cashews, pecans and Brazil nuts are also great, if you want to try something new.
