About this recipe
I made up the Banana Lemon Swirl. I was trying my sixth chocolate cake recipe and this time I was taking no chances. So I tasted the banana-chocolate mass before I added it to the cake. And lo and behold it tasted exactly like chocolate pudding. Why not add another flavour and make it fancy?
Ok, I’m not great at making food look fancy (see picture lol) but the result is incredibly tasty! I picked lemon as a flavour for the light pudding because I don’t like vanilla. But this recipe can so easily be changed to fit your tastes (see variations below) that you can make it your own!
I eat the swirl immediately. You can store it in an air-tight container or jar overnight but I wouldn’t keep it much longer than that.
Chocolate Lemon Swirl
Ingredients
Chocolate Pudding
- 1 banana
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 pinch salt
Lemon Pudding
- 1 banana
- 1 slice lemon
- 1 tbsp Greek yoghurt
- 1 pinch salt
Instructions
- Mash the banana in a flat bowl or on a soup plate. Stir the cocoa powder and the pinch of salt in with a spoon or a silicon spatula. Keep mashing while you stir until you get a smooth pudding-like texture.
- In a separate flat bowl or on a soup plate mash the second banana. Add the Greek yoghurt, the juice from the lemon slice and the pinch of salt and keep mashing until you have a smooth pudding-like texture.
- Fill a 250ml jar with first one then the other pudding. Use a spoon to stir it up a bit. Alternatively, use a flat dessert bowl and arrange the puddings next to each other.
Variations
Vegan
To make this vegan, just leave out the yoghurt. You might have to use a bigger banana or use 1 1/2 bananas for the light part of the swirl. Just mash the banana and mix in the lemon juice or any other flavour you want and done! The chocolate part is already vegan.
Flavours
You can add pretty much any sugar-free food flavouring or fruit juice you like to the recipe. For example, you could make the white pudding vanilla or mint-flavoured. do you like nutty flavours? Add hazelnut to the chocolate mass or chop up some walnuts or cashews into the swirl.
