About this recipe
I never thought I’d be able to have hot chocolate again. I love banana but mashing it into a glass of milk just seemed like a bad idea. Then, this morning I woke up determined to at least give it a try!
After a year without sugar, everything tastes so much sweeter. Maybe, I thought to myself, the sugar in milk will be enough? And it is! It’s so freaking delicious! Not to mention perfect timing because winter is coming and who doesn’t love a cup of hot chocolate to warm the soul?
Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp cocoa, unsweetened
- 1 pinch salt
- 300 ml milk
Instructions
- Here's the minimum dishes version: just pour yourself a cup of milk. Then pour almost all of that milk into a skillet. Keep about two tablespoons in the cup.
- Heat up the milk on the stove. Keep stirring so it won't burn.
- While the milk heats up, add the cocoa powder and mix it into the milk until you get a smooth paste. Stir in the pinch of salt and any other flavours you might want to add (see variations below).
- Once the milk is as hot as you want it to be (I usually leave it just until it starts forming bubbles) pour it into your cup and mix well.
- Enjoy!
Variations
Vegan
I haven’t used a vegan milk with this recipe before so I don’t know what it tastes like. But why not try hot chocolate with some almond milk? You will have to add some form of artificial sweetener to it or some honey.
Keto
Use whole milk. You could even add some cream into the mix if you like.
Add some flavour
I love the pure chocolate flavour but if you experiment with different tastes. Add vanilla extract, some cinnamon, or even a few chilli flakes. Or how about some mint or a dash of coffee? Whatever sounds interesting to you!
